Engine under shield bolts Replacement
Hi All,
Last time I took the front under shield plate off to do some work I noticed some were missing, on testing the bolts on the main shield I could see that some are corroded in, rest are missing so as I expect to be under there quite regular, I’m going to spend an afternoon getting them out and replacing them.
Rimmer brothers quote £3.20 per bolt, and there’s around 16 needed, so that seems a little high to me for a few bolts, anyone know if there’s a cheaper source?
Alternatively, looks like they’re mostly 25mm M10 bolts, plus a couple of longer M10s anything wrong with using standard stainless steel bolts instead with shakeproof washers?

Ur so welcome
Ah yes, no better way to spend a day off under the landy in the cold
Was the same with mine , used a 2 x foot breaker bar as they were all seized/ rounded off , those irwin sockets also helped a lot
Made the world of difference after replacing them with stainless
Hope it goes smoothly for u

This is something I too want to do. The eBay link to Kay Fasteners just bounces around in eBay for some odd reason - are the bolts m8 or m10? I assume they are 25mm length...

There’s 10 M10x25mm and 2 M10x65mm. The 65mm apparently have spacers but have ordered the 25mm so I put it back on and will take a look at the longer one so once their off.

My D3 has 25mm all round but my D4 has the longer bolts and spacers at the rear.
