Evening all,
U2002-01 code, replaced the switch, still no joy, at times it all works but most of the time its not... Red and yellow on the Dash.. Pulled the plug on the EBP found it to be wet, with some blue corrosion around a couple of pins...
Now the wetness would that be coming from the unit, i.e. previous owner not sealed it properly and its full of water, as the screws look to be new-ish... Or is that water coming down the loom... Ive found one wire with a very slight nick in the coating so far, ISTR its a yellow green... Had thought about pulling that section of loom and getting it in the house to inspect properly but I see it splits and goes forward...
Any advice much appreciated as Im sick to death of lying in the mud under the dam thing...

Any chipped wiring will allow water ingress and cause you all manner of troubles, so cut and splice new sections at the EPB connector. See pages 15 & 16 of the wiring diagram below.
It's also worth mentioning to check really carefully the large block connectors behind the N/S/R suspension turret if issues persist. A well known area for cables to be chipped and crazed. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Dry out the EPB thoroughly (hair dryer) and seal the cover with a decent quality silicone sealant. If you can lay your hands on some dielectric grease and smear the connectors. It will help against moisture and promote conductivity between the contacts.
Any wires showing chips or corrosion (greening) must be replaced with new sections, otherwise the greening will keep traveling and eating the cable.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Check voltage on GREEN wire at EPB connection to loom, should be 12-ish.
I bought a fairly good D3 with failed EPB, we found the GREEN wire voltage to be 3v and this was due to water ingress beneath the green PVC sleeve eroding the copper (water originating in wet floor pan passenger side).
We spliced-in new wire to bypass the corroded length, voltage rose to 12v and EPB worked instantly (Whew !).
I CAN'T remember if the voltage reading needs to be taken with the EPB switch raised or not.
Actually I've just realised, this whole business of water bridging from "live" wires over to chassis/body not only causes corrosion (via electrolysis), but also likely contributes to parasitic drains on the battery which I often see mentioned in this forum ....................... ?

It's a good idea to load the circuit with a halogen bulb or similar when measuring the voltage at the plug, as sometimes it's holding a good 12v when unloaded but drops when subjected to a load due to damage wiring or connectors.Defender 110 SE 2021, Tasman Blue

Thanks all, well got it through the MOT, at least Im back on the road whilst I can sort out the issues..
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the type and size of plug used on the loom to the epb? As I was thinking, of getting a take off loom and renewing then patching in...
