I'm not planning on running a winch through it, no. Just a compressor (45A nominal), perhaps some work lights, a 12v impact wrench and some booster cables for jump-starting other vehicles. You can get 350amp connectors if you want to go BIG amps.
Cheers for the info on how the cable was run. How did they terminate the cable at the battery? And was it a twin cable run or did they take the earth off the chassis as Chris did?
Dom, the FL2 idea has been written off. Mrs Do$h made it clear that as it took me 6 months of research and test drives to buy the D3, she's blowed if we're going to change it to save a paultry £100 or so a month on fuel. Plus in her eyes it's a girls car. From a lady who drives a Defender truck cab? You have to respect that view I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Both cables are run all the way from the 2nd battery. Live is thru a 100A fuse first.
I tried to con my Mrs into a FL2, with similar results.

No, it was me looking to get rid of the D3 and get a FL2 to save on fuel. Mrs D owns/drives the 90. She told me to snap out of it and that I'm keeping the D3. I nodded meekly
Cheers for the info on the cables/fuse. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Thinking about the fuse, 100A will be too low to allow effective jump-starting with this setup as the CCA on the D3 is around 650A I think and similar on the Defender? Some form of thermal overload circuit breaker may be the answer? Or just ignore using this for jumpstarting and keep it for accessories I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
