Fault code help please :)
have some new codes pop up, mostly don't seem to affect anything in car function, other than one which ill describe below. I did notice the top 2 prior to my gearbox hiccup but cleared them and they didn't reappear, until now
codes are:
engine TDV6
P029E-00( 68 ) 'unknown' (BAS show it as "Cylinder 2 balance – fuel trim at maximum limit")
P121A-00 ( 68 ) 'unknown' (BAS show it as "Cylinder balance – injector restricted")
no apparent change in car function, though my MPG has seemingly improved a little from its previous 23mpg (i have a lot of "extras" including prospeed rack and AT tyres)
P0579-00 ( 28 ) 'Speed control multi-function input A – circuit range/performance'
it seems to take a few goes before my cruise control works on cruise, works fine controlling the IIDTool however.
do the top 2 mean one of my injectors is fubar? and the bottom one that the steering wheel switch is failing?
P0579 - IIRC, the loom is the first thing to check. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

by injector values i assume you mean injector offset?
if so, these are averages to within -/+10
at start up (luke warm as driven about 2 hours before for 20mins):
1-900
2-890
3-1.105
4-980
5-1.125
6-1.030
whilst driving, all at 999.75
after 10 minute drive and temp at normal on gauge:
1-880
2-800
3-1.300
4-925
5-950
6-950
I've read that these are all within normal values, other then cyls 2 and 3 once up to temp where 2 is low and 3 is high, both both at, rather than over the limits i have read.
does this mean new injectors? I am warrantied (WD) but have some other work about to be done under that (investigations to FNRish noise), I don't want to rip the out of the policy as i still have 3 years on it

I read in a Land rover bulletin that as long as the injector balance is between 650 and 1300 they are good. Looks like Cyl 3 is on the limit.D3 TDV6 S MY2005
Hopefully, you won't need a full set. Looks like injector 3 is the problem one - which corresponds with the cylinder 2 fault code. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

When it comes to numbering there can also be confusion with code readers, live values and injectors. The ECM actually lists the injectors as 0 to 5, with 0=cylinder 1 and 5=cylinder 6. Cylinders 1 to 3 are also known as Bank A with 4 to 6 as Bank B. To keep a common format and to make it easier to understand some code readers list the injectors as 1 to 6.
Others list by firing order (1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6) which, for a RHD vehicle can make it:
- Driver’s side front cylinder, cylinder 1, injector 1
- Driver's side centre cylinder, cylinder 2, injector 3
- Driver's side rear cylinder, cylinder 3, injector 5
- Passenger side front cylinder, cylinder 4, injector 2
- Passenger side centre cylinder, cylinder 5, injector 4
- Passenger side rear cylinder, cylinder 6, injector 6
The big arrow faces the direction of forward travel:
This has confused the heck out of me at times, but then my brain is very small.

Why the cylinders are numbered one way, i.e 1,2,3 on one bank and 4,5,6 on the other bank. And the injectors are numbered the traditional odds on one bank and evens is beyond me. It's confusing as hell if you are used to traditional V cylinder numbering.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.
