Bull bars banned in uk came in in may 2007 but you can fit FPS or 'frontal protection system' the soft type. MY24 Defender 90 X-Dynamic HSE
MY18 Disco 5 HSE Santorini Black Now Gone.

I had a metal one on my freeby for over a year. Was a genuine LR example and was uber rare.
Never had any issues with police and i've drove past loads.
I'm going to fit one to the Disco, will see how i get on with it.

I'm not sure I would be worried about it passing the mot ....mot testers are, and testing is, irrelevant anyway ....the fact is it's not legal and the would hit the fan if you killed or injured someone with it on .... especially with evidence gathered from here 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I wouldn't worry about plod. But you are supposed to inform your insurers if you modify your vehicle. I'd imagine they'd decline to cover you with a metal bulbar fitted. If you don't declare that you've fitted it and injure or kill someone in an accident I'd imagine you'd be in a whole lot of

As of the 25th May 2007 the sale and fitting of new bull bars is now illegal due to EU law.
The EU law dictates that the sale and manufacture of protective metal frames is to stop from the 25th May to improve pedestrian and cyclists safety, but the law does not cover The EU law dictates that the sale and manufacture of protective metal frames is to stop from the 25th May to improve pedestrian and cyclists safety, but the law does not cover bars already fitted to vehicles before this date.
So no problem with one bought and fitted before then but you would still need to declare to insurers even if fitted before that date.
Just get out and push the gate you lazy git

The other possible option is an external winch mount.

You have to at most of the EU legislation. I doubt very much that being hit by a three ton square box at 30MPH would hurt any more if there were a set of bull bars on the front. You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!
