Fuel filler cap line replacement part? |
|
Hi.
Since I bought the car my fuel filler cap line (the string wot holds the cap to the car) has been broken. Id like to replace it but can only see the entire cap and line listed for about £20 +P&P
Does anyone know if you can get the line, e.g. a generic one or some random ford part, on its own.
Its not the biggest issue in the world, but id like to sort it one day. Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

When mine went I just used a length of 100lb fishing wire and a couple of double crimps to replace the rubber piece.
They were just bits I had hanging around but you could fabricate it from something similar.
If you're concerned about scratching the paint with the wire just shrink wrap it. I see no ships........

Thanks, I have been toying with the idea of using some black strimmer line I have. You just game me an idea about how to join it up nicely though, thanks. Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

I glued the two broken ends together and wrapped the whole lot in some heatshrink tubing. Looks almost original and is holding up well so far! 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
