A sticking filler cap was my first experience of the Disco3 site being invaluable. 2am in some French filling station and the petrol cap door was stuck shut. Had previously read of the trick for releasing it from inside
pulling the release wire through the boot off side inspection door which houses the jack. I would have had to force the cap door open if I had not known this trick.

Yeah but diesels get twice the mileage! I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

I know this seems a bit odd, but whilst I usually fill up at Sainsbury's, with no problem, occasionally at other fuel stations with the keys in my pocket, the indicators flash twice and the car deadlocks whilst I have just started to fill the tank. This seems potentially a problem if I'd just happened to leave the keys on the driver's seat or wherever. It hasn't happened for ages but used to! And no, the keys were in my right pocket, so I wasn't leaning on them against the car!

My MY06 TDV6 doesn't have ANY locking device on the filler
You can see where it fits, the hole is BLANK
Is this normal?

This double locks the car doors but enables the filler cap to remain unlocked !

Taz Daz. Thanks that was just the trick i was looking for as i thought it an odd thing. As for someone not trying to get in your car because you are five feet away, im afraid that doesn't seem to bother some thieving gits. After all the reason you can lock your door on drive off is because it has become normal for your kit to be nicked off your passenger seat whilst stopped at traffic lights and your only one foot away!

Currently paying £4.94 per Imperial Gallon ($8.13 per US Gallon) so we don't just lock the fuel cap, we patrol the darn thing with big, snarly dogs too! I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Nope. Just sling some Millers in every now and then. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
