I know this topic has been covered a few times and information is easy to find online.
BUT, my headlights aren't scratched they're just slightly faded, kind of like a lime-scale kind of stuff on them, they look clean and don't look grey or fogged in anyway.
Has anybody polished there headlights BUT NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE SCRATCHED. I just want to brighten them up.
Some say to use T-Cut - some don't
How about toothpaste.?
I'm pretty sure that I have some G3 scratch remover paste I bought years ago.. I think its a tube of cutting paste which turns to polish.? with a pair of applicators (one black, one white) I assume the paste should be ok.?
Many Thanks

The scratch paste I've got is very similar to Autosol, I'll give this a go at the weekend. New D3 Owner.. every day it starts is a bonus but any bongs or beeps are heart-stopping.

Taken headlights to a friendly bodyshop and they give them a going over with very fine wet and dry then machine polish with some Farleca. Won't remover gravel rash but gets rid of the blooming.

I had much the same as you, a sort of whitening in patches. Used toothpaste and took a fair bit of time and effort, I'd say about three quarters of an hour per headlight. Came up fine and hasnt come back.
Small circling motions with toothpaste on a wet rag, and regular wiping down with a clean wet rag.

Son has an XC90 and they have issues with their headlights blooming. He bought kit off the bay with 3 different cutting pastes which worked a treat but I dare say any cutting compound will do.
Used a machine mop and took no more than 15 minutes each headlamp.
Just have to mask off any painted area although with a D3/4, i'd be inclined to remove the unit and do it away from the car,

I can second the ebay '3M' kits, did it on my last D2 (facelift lights) and it made a huge difference. About an hour for the pair of lights. Easier if they take out the lights to do the work.

I'd agree. When I use to sell loads of headlights / rear lights I used Brasso to brighten them up and remove scratches.

I had the same issue with a ten year old VW Golf; 3M kit, power drill and an hour's effort sorted it. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Have a specific plastic polish Plast-X......that is really good for the acrylic plastic headlights are made from
Don't use T-Cut
Most metal polishes (except Maas.....exceptional stufffor metals & some plastics) I would stay away from
Look in Halfrauds there is a special kit....you can get the Plast-X BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I use a 2000 grit pad on a DA. Wet the pad and a little spray of water on the light, set the DA sander at a nice steady speed, not to fast! A small amount of pressure against the DA so it cuts through the horrible stuff on the lens!
Once the whole light has been done, wipe it off. it'll look a bit misted but don't panic. Using a polishing pad on a DA polisher, with some fairly fine polish, give the headlight a nice buff up! Again wipe of with a microfibrer cloth and it'll look good as new 2009 Discovery 3 HSE - Gone
