headlights simple advice please

I have got bog standard headlights. I assume these are LED ? I used to have a set of bi xenons and the current ones are very pale by comparison. I know there are lots of posts here but .. What should / can I replace the headlights with to get better visibility. Do you need to know the voltage. Does anyone have a link to a supplier with the right spec. thanks

Nick at Yeovil sells the Xenon units as upgrades, straight plug-in.

Occasionally come up on eBay but are often LHD or accident damaged so beware.

Andy I've just replaced mine with Philips extremes and I'm quite happy with the results, I know other members have used Osram night breakers which are also pretty good. There must be a fair amount of extra light being thrown out as I'm getting flashed quite a lot now to dip my head lights even though they already are. I've changed both dipped and main beam bulbs takes about 5-10 mins per side, you will need H7's for both.

I've just bought 2 pairs of Phillips Extremes. I have not put them in yet, but in other threads people have been very impressed with Extremes/Night Breakers. I considred Xenon HID replacements, but the Extremes cost £44, the Xenon HIDs were £720 Shocked

I fitted Osram Night Breakers on 21/12 only to have both dip beam bulbs blow this morning. They were replaced by the suppling motor factor FOC, but they did say they had had a lot returned and mentioned the Discovery 3 amongst others as have " voltage spikes due to higher rated altenator charging the calcium battery to 14.4v". Can any of the technical gurus on here shed any light (no pun intended) on this?

Donald I hope I dont have the same problem with the Philips extremes, at £27 a pair and with two required to do the set it would be an exspensive hobby to pursue.I whish I was as rich as CFB £720 for the proper Xenons is a bit out of my league but then again a drive a low rent D3 with out tints Laughing

Good man 90BHP if you spot anymore for that price I'll 'av em. With the tinted windows and a side line as a local drug dealer and pimp you should have easily been able to afford new ones Wink

Thanks for the advice guys although it sounds like a change may not be trouble free . There is always the spot light option. I curse the dealer who told me that I couldnt swap the xenons from my old car when it was replaced under warranty ( and consideration)I knew he was having me over at the time.
