If you look at the heated jet fuse, if it has 2 metal contacts then there must be a wire that goes somewhere! (not that it helps much)
If there is only one contact, you know no wiring is present.
Did you miss this?
Don't consider window heaters.
I did think of a fuse piggy back, but don't think you would get the cover on???
hi pete
my apologises , will have to double check as being honest i’m not 100% , maybe there’s a wire tucked down the side of the engines fusebox that i haven’t noticed or runs across the bulkhead and is hidden within the large loom that goes scross
know there’s nothing at the washer jets and ref the window heaters is that because the amps are to high plse , it was only because the heated windscreen spade connector weren’t being used and assumed it ran off the rear screen but take note and indeed won’t do that
ref the piggy back fuse i was wondering that ref the lid
thks again and always appreciate the great help
surprised knowone else has done this

Instead of heated jets, consider using a window washing fluid which doesn’t freeze - not just water;)
Either don’t dilute the stuff at all or read on the side of the bottle for the ratio of wiper fluid to water for a specific temperature. Works great.
thks, been using the halfords windscreen washer, i normally do it 50/50 but at least if i buy some more and pour it in neat as i haven’t looked at the temperature it goes down to according to the dilution factor
will just be so nice for the first time to have the facility of them not freezing up where i’m driving down the motorway and end up with a dirty screen

With a heated windscreen you have a new climate panel with another button.
They only work for about 4 mins. Probably need enabling! And wiring inside rather than out.
Just not a good way forward

The stuff I put in last time was diluted as follows:
1 unit water, 1 unit fluid = -29 C
2 units water, 1 unit fluid = -15 C
3 units water, 1 unit fluid = -9 C
4 units water, 1 unit fluid = -7 C

many thks, of course , sounds obvious now
at least when the weather warms up abit i can then look into it more in what’s there and what isn’t
most appreciated

I remember 2 or 3 winters ago during a cold spell seeing a LR customer care Discovery with paint stripped off from the screen jets across the bonnet and down each side past the lower rear quarters he had certainly been put something strong in the washer bottle, probably neat anti-freeze, not a very good advertisement. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

blimey what what he using , brake fluid,
have seen that once many moons ago where someone had used antifreeze in there washer bottle , don’t know hat it done to the paintwork
been thinking about this some more , god i need to get out more
am i right to assume the hse and base engine looms are the same , so if that’s the case as the main loom leaves the engines fusebox it goes across the engine bay in that plastic trim near the scuttle panel
i wonder if the heated jet wiring is hiding in there , or maybe cut off and terminated when they aren’t fitted ??
it’s just finding out where the wires go from the heated jets backwards and where they end up
the plot thickens

The “normal” washer fluid solutions or concentrates don’t damage the paint, never seen it happen here and have been driving for 20+ years...

had a bit of a look today and can’t see anything obvious ref these missing heated jet wires , ie any connections by the main loom where it goes across the engine bay
assume it’s only the looms inside the cabin that are different according to which model u have
but surely if u have the same engine fitted the loom inside the engine bay is the same regardless if it’s a base or hse model
think my next step will be to work out how to undo the plastic panels which holds that large loom in the engine bay and see if the wire may be tucked out of the way

I noticed that mine haven't been working in the cold snap (thank goodness for -20 screen wash)
So I rang Land Rover yesterday and I ordered two
With a little discount £34.00 for the pair
This appears to be cheaper than most aftermarket suppliers..... and local

Following this with interest. I was quite surprised yesterday to find out I didn't have heated jets. I just took it for granted a HSE would have them.
my 2007 XS has them, why would they be left off a HSE?Pete

How did you know they weren't working?
If fluid was coming out?
GS - When its warmer, why don't you try and remove the tubing thing that goes to the bonnet (at the bonnet end) and see if any wires present

hi Pete
i have indeed looked at the wire and pulled off the round cover and can only see the tube
however looking at it yesterday abit closer i see the tubing tucks under the scuttle panel and then into the engine bay , so maybe , just maybe a connection wire may be hidden away
will as u also mentioned wait till it’s get warmer and start investigating abit more
thks so much once again and will ensure i update this thread
surely i can’t be the only one who’s thought about this mod
