Hunter 4 Wheel Alignment
In preparation for my upcoming MOT later this week and having noticed that my front track rod ends moved quite freely when I replaced the brake discs and pads recently, I decided to replace the track rods and ends today.
I didn't need to replace the rods as both ends came off very easily and to replace both sides took me less than 30 mins, I tried to fit them as close as possible to the old ones but wanted to have the alignment checked anyway.
I have never had any work done to the rear end in my year of ownership.
Phoned my local Kwik Fit to book the Discovery in and was pleased to find that they could do it this afternoon. Now I know and have heard some horror stories with Kwik Fit but had it in during the summer for an Air Con recharge and was pleased with the service.
I arrived and whilst in the waiting room was pleasantly surprised that you can view the whole alignment procedure on a monitor which shows the readings before and after.
This is what was found

Have to say I was happy to have set the front up pretty well just by measurement with a steel rule.
Now onto the price, quoted £49 for the front and £25 for the rears.
When finished the Technician asked if I was planning on keeping the motor for a few years, as I am, he offered me their Alignment plan which is valid for 2 years and allows you to visit any branch to have the alignment checked should you wish to do so, at a cost of £129.95. This charge includes the work done today.
As I'm planning on keeping the Disco as long as I can I thought this was a good deal and signed up for it.
Now just have to pass the MOT this week and I'll be a happy bunny, well at least till I renew the tax

Looks like Kwik Fit forgot the D3 has air suspension ...
That price seems good compared to what others have paid. I’m waiting for mine to be done by the dealer - still in warranty but extra expecting them to tell me alignment isn’t covered and to ask me £150 for a one-off adjustment. Might just be calling Kwik Fit myself.MY16 D4 Graphite in Loire Blue

I certainly didn't as I had never heard of it till you mentioned it but I will contact the garage and ask, if they haven't they at least I can get it done again and again and again and again!!
Thanks for the heads up, I've now done a search and found exactly what it means and what it does, presume I can set it myself using the IID?

Might make sense that the hunter kit is more sensitive?
You used to have to have a full fuel tank or a certain weight in the load space as well..........

PS both geoff. and Flack know everything ref D3s

Not long picked the Discovery up after its MOT, passed with flying colours and no advisories.
Didn't realise but I had covered 14000 miles in the last year.

Hi
Glad I’ve seen this post as I’ve just had the front wishbones replaced and a rear suspension arm so took it to my local Kwik Fit this morning for the alignmnet.
They were very attentive and took their time doing the job.
However, they said that there was no options on the Hunter for the camber adjustment and as such, couldn’t do it. Apparently, there were no values for it.
I assume that judging by the OP’s post, this is not the case.
Where did the OP get his done, which branch of Kwik Fit and perhaps my local branch can call them and get the information they need.
Look forward to hearing responses.

The branch I took it to was Kirkintilloch, according to their website their are over 500 branches that are equipped with the Hunter Alignment machine. I phoned around as my local branch don't have the Hunter.
Sounds very much like the place you went didn't have it either.
I'd be looking for my money back if I was you and look to find a branch that has the Hunter.
or of course the person on duty didn't know how to work the Hunter machine.
Either way they can do it, as can be seen in he screenshots I supplied.

I will show them your screen shots and see what they say.
