Could somebody who actually knows how to use the IID Tool and talks plain English please drop me a PM, I'm pulling my hair out here.
Try as I might I cannot get the bluetooth module ( on the car ) to update. Have tried 3 times and it keeps dropping out at various stages but most recently at 84% complete with an E8 error.
Radio is still working but can't now connect with the bluetooth on the car which tbh is no great loss but I'd like to sort it in time.
Every time I try using my IID something nearly always goes wrong. I know they're a very capable device but I'm 2 seconds away from stamping on mine.
I've abandoned it for today, it's pecked my head too much. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.

Hiya Narpy
I am sorry to hear of your woes and frustrations with your IID tool.
Although a competative product to our's, I constantly read posts that indicate that along with us they also provide simply stellar levels of support.
Just as i would be shocked to read this post about our products, i am sure they would be shocked to read this post about their product and am also pretty sure that if you contact them and explain your frustration and problems they would be more than happy to help and provide a fix.

It's most probably me who's at fault here Colin, I'll be the first to admit that.
I keep expecting the tool to do as promised but it nearly always goes wrong and I'm at a loss to understand what I need to do to correct it.
I'm hoping somebody can advise, nothing more and I don't intend to continually run back to GAP for help when sharing the problem on the forum may help others and possibly get advice from somebody who has already experienced exactly the same problem.
To be perfectly honest, I struggle like a struggling thing with the IID tool. There's a fair bit to remember during it's operation and as I don't use it with great regularity, I have to go through the same learning process each time plus I have a very short temper with things that just wont do as they are supposed to which at times like this, really doesn't help. What version do you have Narpy?
I'm assuming V2.18, in which case there is nothing in the documentation But if you have V3 on a non BT IID tool, then according to the documents you have to connect to a pc. Mark.

It is very kind and magnanimous of you to appreciate and comment that it is most probably not a problem with your equipment.

Athough you mention the IID tool which is a competative product, this thread could have so easily been about one of our products instead and in that respect i share a common and sympathetic element.
God knows we have also had our share of problems in the past
But it is how you deal with these that counts.
Can i humbly also ask if you are providing alternate power to the Vehicle as a side thought as it does seem odd that you get so far and then have a problem.
Either way i am sure that a resolution is not that far away, with help from Members or GAP and all I would ask is only a little patience of you in the meantime

I did yes. Battery was fully charged, all lights lit on my charger and I left it plugged in whilst doing the update and all were still lit when it bombed out. Was this wrong?
It's running the beta version of v3 as of today. Mods:

The smaller ones (Depends how small) don't have a supply option. The MXS7 does, but its not enough to support the D3's electrics.
For that you need the 25A jobby
How long does the update take? Mark.

Update takes 41 mins with key in position I.

I am sorry but there is just no way that even a fully charged battery even supported by an anditonal supply of less than 25 or 30 Amps will prove suffice for anything above a >15 flashing session.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying.
GAP advise this in relation to updating the bluetooth software:
If the battery is in good working order and fully charged, the process
will be successful without a battery maintainer.
I'm intending to try again tomorrow, think I'll remove the charger next time and see if it helps..
Battery is fine and fully charged. I'll try to introduce a large dose of patience and see if that helps.
Failing that, I think I'll get somebody who knows how to do it, to sort it. Damn annoying when I thought I had the tool for the job.
I'm sure it'll be fine next time. Mods:

The car won't fully charge the battery - did you charge it with the Ctek first?
Must admit I wouldn't risk an update of that length without support. Though that particular module is not critical. Mark.
