check the threads for fuel tank senders units, I seem to remember something about there being 2 and one can become detached (or something like that).. Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

I had that on my D3, if it is the same then yes it is probably one of the sensors or possibly the connector in the drivers wheel arch.
It is very simple to get at the sensors, just drop the tank, again, if it is the same as the D3 it is only about 6 bolts and it drops straight down then disconnect the hoses. I managed to get a full tank, second hand, and just swapped, was cheaper than buying a sensor. Whole job took around 2 hours. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

There is\was a bulletin to replace the fuel senders plus the tank top cap and then carry out a software update to the instrument pack.
This bulletin has been suspended due to the software update affecting the front PDC

I had this on my last D4, they replaced the sensors however the land rover replacements were in fact faulty. The fault on mine was eventualy identified as the sender inside the tank. Once replaced again, worked well. D4 3.0 SDV6 GS 13
