Lancaster Landrover
Well I took my car into the dealership as it’s started to use oil 1ltr in 7000 miles they had a look and said it needs booking in for a full investigation ok , they are going to call me with a book in date two weeks on still waiting, for a call back and I’ve called twice, starting to loose the will of ownership of a Landrover

Obvious question, but is there any sign of oil underneath the car where you park it or does it smoke when driving?Joe

No visual leaks no signs of smoke engine cover off right side egr valve pipe oily compared to left side as you are facing engine, just had phone call to say they will have it in but if extended warranty doesn’t cover it £174 plus vat a hr, really, with approved warranty from the dealership you would think all was covered when it says to the value of the car , no wonder the customer is moving away

If you have no obvious signs of leakage or smoking, a litre of oil in 7000 miles is not too bad really.
How often do you check the oil level and have you noticed it dropping over time or did you do a random check and saw a message that you needed to add oil?Joe

Check oil level regularly we went on a 200 mile journey over the weekend next weekend checked oil level was showing almost empty, I tow a caravan to Italy and it as never needed a top up , will see what the outcome is ,but a wish I had kept the D3 160,000 miles and didn’t use a drop

Just be careful about adding oil when told to unexpectedly if there are no obvious reasons. You may have a sensor problem in the sump and are overfilling now.
We've replaced a few sensors for either failure or melted wires.
The last thing you want to do is overfill as you'll end up with a seized engine!!
Best advice, drain the oil out and measure it. That way you'll know exactly how much you have.

Room for thought but even if the engine went bang due to over filling the oil their part failed I only haded a little until it was in the safe zone
