Its destined to go on my camping trailer, but I'm getting a couple of brackets knocked up so that I can fit it to the car even with the expo rack on. Pictures when it's finished.

I know your a dab hand at fabricating stuff but Prospeed have made some Foxwing brackets that allow you to fold it down flat to the rack when not in use and fold it out the other way if you need to access anything on that side of the rack. They are quite smart really.

I have just had a quick look at the Prospeed website and it states that these folding brackets only fit their racks. How easily they will adapt to other racks I have no idea. Details here
Foxwing do a range of brackets as well for different racks, available from Boab or 4x4overlander details here
If you have a Patriot rack you can use the luggage vertical brackets to support the Foxwing

Right, brackets made, remade, fitted and tested. Had lower brackets originally, but the awning fouled the top tailgate when opened, mainly due to the ladder.
Foxwing fitted to the LR Expo rack....
Stainless steel bracket holds it just above the side rail

Bracket fixed to both horizontal and vertical bars

The extra height allows the rear tailgate to open (with the ladder attached) and not lift the awning
Awning is at a good height with the car lowered, so easy to access the car when camping.
Mind you, after all that the Foxwing will mostly be going on the trailer. Many thanks to my fabricator, great job And sorry for messing you about Disco 5 HSE Lux

I looked at hinging the awning, but with the expo rack there wasn't really anywhere for it to go.
