lighting upgrade

Hi all
I am thinking of upgrading all my exterior lights to LED's

i'm struggling to find ones for dipped and main beam as they seem to bo same is there any difference in wattage as both are h1's i believe?

also is it worth doing it mind you ive found LED bulbs cheaper than standard filaments any advice happily taken

No don't.

THey could/should fail at the MOT.
They fail and flash.
Worth change the interior lights to led though

I was expecting them to be H7

Long beam (dipped beam) is H7 for sure.

And what Pete said about not being road-legal.

Xenon lights are better by far, just pick yourself up some second hand xenon lights.

Yes to compatible but I think you need a different grille, bumper and sides…

Some years ago I bought Xenon headlight assemblies for my D3, just a straight swap and reconfigure the CCF. Have worked faultlessly for around 10 years.

The D3 xenons are by far the best lights, i also have a D4 with Xenons and the output is very poor compared to the D3 when put side by side.

If your changing the 501 bulbs make sure you buy 24v as they can take the 15.4 volts charging.
I have changed mind 5 years ago and none have started to flash.
If you use 12v they go faulty then flash.

You need a diagnostic tool like Gap to edit the ccf files but i think you can still use them without editing the files they just flicker o start up

Hopefully you didn’t buy ones marked AFS

Make sure battery is nice and charged. Ideally connect a battery charger while you do it. (Recommended!)

You go into the config menu
Select tested parameters
Scroll down to find HID lights or similar. Select fitted
Then press update and follow on screen instructions.
Car dash and radio&CD will go mad for a while.

If the new lights have an extra bulb next to the side light, that the old didn’t have there are 2 corner light settings you can change to enable

Once happy the dip beam lights work. Reset clock
