Look For Rear Brake Pipe Leakage Repair Suggestions.
Dear all here, I just got a brake pipe leak a couple days before, felt very odd when press the pedal, it turns out that the Left side of the rearbrake pipe leaking, I found that there are two holes in the brake pipe around the wheel shafts after the check. Clearly I need to replace at least half of the pipe line, I looked through this forum and read many posts, but can not figure out where to cut the pipe, many ones says the place should be heat shield, but I found that there are quite a few silver shields underneath the car, could anyone give me any idea that which heat shield I shoud to remove and joint the new shaped pipe with the old one? Other question is can I joint the pipe with a compression fitting or I have to use a flaring tool? Many thanks to any suggestions.
Thanks again.

Roughly in the area of the front floor pan. If your talking about front to rearpipes, the short pipes on top of the rear arms are also very vulnerable. Yes you need to use inline flare connectors the original steel pipe is much harder to flare than the copper or nickel copper pipe so you need a good quality’s flaring tool to work on the vehicle with.

HI sputnixb51, Thanks for your reply. The short pipes seems still fine and it would be easy to replace, the one I am going to replace is the arrow labelled one which connect to the front,
do you know if it is easy to cut the pipe under the car? Thank you

Cutting is the easy bit with a pipe cutter, don’t use hacksaw the swarfe May get into the system and do damage. But and it’s a big but the pipe arrowed is already new pipe so where actually is your leak ? That would help me advise you better. I have done this job a few times.

Hi sputnixb51, sorry for the confusion, actually the picture was cited from other owner and I post it just to show which pipe I am going to change.
Since I don't have a picture of my own car, let me still use the previous picture, I have put 2 stars in the roughly place where my car was leaking, one is close to the clip on the top, another is the place where it crossed with the pipe go to another rear wheel, both of the places got serious rusted, I really appreciate any of your advice re how and where to change the pipe.
Best regards,

In the picture you can see the rear left wishbone for reference.
Looks like Richard took the exhaust off. I just dropped mine off the hangers to get room - the cheap tool to remove exhaust hangers made me wonder why I'd never bought the tool before.
It's not too bad if you don't have rear aircon.
Rear aircon pipes get in the way but still not too bad a job.
I cut the pipes offset a bit so they got in the way of each other less when tightening the new joints.
It's a good idea to replace the flexis and the spring clips on the wishbones while you've got them apart.

Oh, remember to deburr the pipe and put the fittings on BEFORE making the flares!
Once you've cut the old one drag it out, looking for how it routes and then make up the new pipe following the pattern of the old one.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Oh, and finally, if you've had brake fluid dropping on the metalwork for a prolonged period, best to clean it up, rust convert and treat it. I'm sure that's why some frames are failing MoTs for rot in these places.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Hi Highlands, thanks for your advice, is dropping the exhast a esay work? it seems huge and have no clue yet how to remove it...
My car do have rear aircond and I have been checked a little bit yesterday and thouhgt the fix is feasible but really want some ideas and suggestions re how to remove parts on the way to replace the pipe...
Another question- is the right brakepipes underneath the car go to the right wheel and the left one go to the left brake? Thanks again.
