How much 2 stroke oil should I add to my diesel
I have read several threads on the site and many people recommend it would be useful to add a little two strokeoil to the diesel. Is this correct and how much should i add for each full tank.Landrover Discovery 3 TDV6 S 7 seat Automatic

I've been adding 2T for a while now, it takes a lot of the tappety idling noise off the Euro 4 engine and makes pick up sound a little smoother, I've been adding about 250ml that way I get X4 applications from a 1litre bottle.
I've also got a 250ml bottle so that I can just do a one shot application at the pump.Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I have used it all the time for the last two years, swear by it. 200:1 is correct but you will not do any harm putting more or less in, 200:1 is just the most economic to get the results. Screwfix £6.45 ltr.It can when others can't,

I have some semi-synthetic 2-stroke (from a Suzuki RG250)...will that be OK or does it *have* to be mineral?

It has to be Mineral mate !
Don't use synthetic or even semi synthetic as this will have the reverse effect on what you will achieve ?
It will gum everything up !
I get mine from tesco it's less than a fiver and its red in colour ! Wilko do some as well it's green in colour and that's about a fiver as well !Only dead fish go with the Flow !
The cheapest I can find locally in 5L cans is Comma about £22 , but there is a 25L on ebay for £65 + delivery Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Semi-synthetic low ash Jaso f-c is the best you can use, but any low ash is better than none, the higher up the alphabet the jaso letters better, i.e. whilst f-b is not as good as f-c it is perfectly good to use and e-b is still good but not as good as f-b.
Low ash mineral is ok but not as good as semi-synthetic, full synthetic which is The Best[u] is a no go due to price.

M3DPO - are you sure that is correct ?
I looked into this in great detail before I embarked on the voyage, the general consensus was the cheaper the better ?
If you are right I agree with above post ref quiter start up etc smoothed out idle ! But both my EGR's are fubarred so maybe my low spec mineral oil has helped them deteriorate ?Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Me too Disco Mikey did a write up a while back and was adamant it HAD to be mineral, synthetic or semi-synthetic will harm the engine.

AIUI, Semi or Fully synthetic does not have the same chemical make up of mineral oil, and doesnt mix properly with the fuel. Again AIUI, it wont cause any issues, but is a waste of time + money.
The above may or may not be true, but all I ever used was a cheapo JASO FC (because I am a tight ! ) and never had any issues
The best oil you can use is a mineral JASO FD, but finding it at the right price proves tricky
Mineral JASO FC is the most commonly available, and is usually the cheapest. Currently £5 for a litre of Catrol Actevo from Tesco
My own finding were pretty much as others have stated, easier starting, smoother running, less smoke, slightly better MPG.
Chalky - The 2T oil has not caused any issues with your EGR's. They are a design, and no metter what you put through them, they will fail again, eventuallyMy D3 Build Thread
