Nav on Move with IID tool

I've got the latest version of the iid tool - can I enable nav on move and three flash Indicators? If so would I need to connect the battery to a power source or just leave the car running? 56 plate d3

You would be well advised to connect the car to a power source before you start doing changing anything with the IID tool; the battery will run down surprisingly quickly when you are sat in there fiddling with the IID.

I would not recommend trying to change anything with the engine running. I only use the IID with the engine running for live values and if it asks me to start the engine.

Just make sure you had a good long drive before you change the CCF.
Then you are sure nothing goes wrong. (when you have a good battery)
This is how i use the IID-Tool. I never attach a external powersupply.

For the three flash indicators, it could be that you also need to update the Instrument Cluster.

SatNav on the move is not guaranteed on all vehicles including mine, it depends on the firmware version of the SatNav (unless the latest version of Iid tool software has been upgraded). Jump leads connected to a second battery will give extra power and more time Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi Guys,
M3DPO and Wiggs are right - it depends on the SW version installed on the satnav head unit and generally requires an update.
We will be offering this as a package and are working on making it as quick and simple as possible. One thing is guaranteed, there will be no wandering around the house, yard, or garage with SD cards... Whistle

More info ASAP.

One of those things you think you will never need/use, but once you have it, you will wonder why it wasn't enabled as standard Thumbs Up

Wiggs is quite correct, as usual Wink

To shed more light on this proceedure

Nav on the Move is just another of the many hundreds of editable Values in the CCF, however unlike any other vehicle system, the touch screen, while it will instantly disable the feature, will not enable the feature even if the CCF is set to enable it. This came as quite some surprize and took quite some figuring out when i first discovered this many years ago.

To enable Nav on the Move you have to first program the Touch screen with a very special set of firmware (Software assembly) that is actually called "Nav on Move".
It is like installing a temporay tool just to do this job.
Although there are a number of different Hardware and Software variants of the Touch screen, this tool like software is used soley to enable the nav on Move and is only designed to be flashed in as a temporary measure just to do this job on all of them.

If anyone ever encounters a vehicle with this Nav on Move software still installed, i would be most surprized and what that would really mean is that the job was not done correctly and left half done.

To do the job correctly, you have to first take note of the current software / assembly number.

Then you have to flash the "Nav on Move" software in.
If you have not already set the CCF to enable Nav on move, you can do it at this stage.

Then you flash either the original set of software back in or a later update for the same hardware.

The downside is that due to the graphics content in the flash file sets, they are a shade over 2MB each, including the Nav on Move set and there are quite a few to choose from.

Also, as the Touch screen is on the MOST BUS this has to be communicated with by gatewaying through the Integrated Head unit which is not only quite tricky but a bit slow.

The end result is that it takes about an hour just to program one data set in, and as pointed out, this has to be done twice.

So what enables that TV in motion possible without attaching any permanent hardware?
