I guess an email renewal from Churchill at £1,860 is basically the equivalent of getting dumped by text message.

£550 last year, no incidents or material changes.

The famous advertising was the dog saying "Oh, yes"

More a case of "Oh, no!" for me.

Need to do some shopping around.

Just had mine from the same, £850 starting figure from £440 last year. Ended up £570.....from Churchill after making a call to them. Didn't take much to wind it down a bit.

All other companies in region of £750-£1500.

Mental!!

Cost of claims has gone through the roof. The absence of apparently trivial parts in the supply chain means cars can be stored for months waiting for repair, with hire car and storage costs rapidly outweighing the value of the vehicle. This is why so many cars are being declared as written off when the damage may barely break 20% of the car, because repair is only part of the claim cost.

As an example, if you have a Freelander 2 and you get hit on the NSF causing any damage to the driveshaft, you would be in the poo. Why? Because you will struggle to find a NSF driveshaft dust seal, with no lead time from JLR on availability. Instant write-off for a £5 part.

Putin's folly continues to have a massive impact on manufacturing supply chains in all industries and there's no sign of it easing any time soon.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Makes me feel less penalised for the £600 road tax I pay! My insurance renewal this year for the D3 was in the order of £200.

Spoke to Churchill and they managed to reduce the price.

£1,820 their best and final Big Cry

Shall I cancel your auto-renewal she asked?

I’d be well happy with that… mine was £650 last year for 25,000 business miles with Axa.. renewal invited at £2450..
Had to go NFU Mutual at £1500…

Hastings Direct has come back at £1,250

Has anyone had any experience with them?

Would a Ghost2 make any difference to these awful premiums?

Not much.. already declared that, plus 2 x trackers… they would now prefer to underwrite a 17 yr old ..it’s less risk !lol!

I've not used them for many years and never on a Disco.

Both my lads have used them for their Puntos and they were competitive .... at least to get the business, not so much at renewal although the youngest did get them to price match at his first renewal with them.

None of us had to make a claim whilst with them, which is where the cheaper outfits cut costs IMHO.

I actually switched to Direct Line a couple of years ago and they were very good on price ... but not at renewal.

have to fess up ... my excuse is it's early and I've been thinking about lots of insurers and realised I couldn't think who I was currently with Embarassed

After several minutes of searching emails and checking some of me logins on insurance company sites, I'm with Marks & Spencer ... came in at £240 when Direct Line jumped from £245 to £311.

And the reason it took so long to find is the confirmation email contains neither the word "insurance" nor my reg number.

if you're looking for a painless experience when claiming, my eldest would warn you away from Admiral. He merged in front of a car at the end of a dual carriage way - supported by his and a following vehicle's dash-cam footage - and the car he overtook then rammed him on nearside rear quarter panel and proceeded to power through catching all the nearside panels, going up on the grass verge to complete this task.

Admiral looked at the footage, concluded it was the other guys fault, then in the final stages didn't use the evidence and went 50/50.

They also wrote his car off - only 1 panel had serious damage - and doubled his insurance premium.

He's still trying to sort it all out 3 months later.

Thanks for that, I did think that. Ghost might reduce premiums significantly but clearly not.

LV wouldn't give any discount for any aftermarket device on my Audi RS, however, they were very reasonable in the first place, so it wasn't an issue.
