Not having best of luck

Just seeing if anyone else has had problems with their d3 one after the other.
Thought id start well and get the belts and water pump done, then a month after the air compressor gave up. And now two months after that had a warning saying "engine system fault" currently waiting to hear what's up with it.

Sorry if nothing made sense just seeing if anyones been in same boat, cheers

It is the norm. Eventually you get to the point where it runs well for 6 months and then something else kicks off. Mine was pretty reliable up until the end, but maintained it very well and did whatever it needed when it needed it doing.

Like said, it’s a labour of love! Your current problem should be easily identified with codes read.

Easy things to check are turbo hoses for splits, fuel filter replace.

As for the compressor, make absolutely sure that the underlying fault (leak?) has been addressed or your new compressor won’t last long. Does it sink overnight? Does the compressor run regularly and for a long time? It should not be cutting in regularly and even when your playing up and downy with the switch, it should stop after a couple of minutes max.

My Disco seems to be in the garage every couple of months and has cost me a fortune, only a couple of months ago I paid £700 to get the suspension sorted which pushed my spend this year to about £1500, now it’s back in the garage after I got warning lights appear the other day and the suspension went into access mode, also suspect compressor on its way out.
It’s by far the best vehicle I’ve owned and when it’s running well it’s amazing, however I’ve got a company vehicle which is costing more than planned and struggling to keep shelling out on the disco when it’s only used for greenlaning, getting pressure from SWMBO to get it sold which I don’t want to do but cannot keep spending money on it at current levels. Decisions, decisions.

Now a days a D3 may be a cheap car to buy but its still a complicated and expensive car to maintain if you can only do a little yourself (like me). That will only get worse as it gets older.
So be prepared Shocked

They just make the best of everything they have.
