Power tailgate

This might seem a simple question from a newbie (still thinking about which D4 to buy), but does the D4 have a power lift tailgate and if so, which model/variants have the power tailgate?
My better half is too short to reach, so wants the power tailgate Smile Thumbs Up

No model had it as standard, but I have seen a few Chinese-based facebook-type ads selling a retrofit kit. I don't' recall seeing anyone on here fitting one to report on its success, but I'm happy to be corrected Thumbs Up

Was looking at trying to retrofit a D5 powered lift onto mine but the dimensions just didn’t work

Solution for you may be to fit a web strap to the inside of the upper tailgate giving her something that hangs down when it’s open to pull down on, something along these lines?

Very Happy It’s either that, or
1- show the wife how to leave the car in access suspension mode
2- use it as a good reason for the wife never to drive the D4:)

I'm sure you could pretty easily fabricate a hanging pull-strap for the upper tailgate like a lot of hatchback vehicles have

Such as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B588CM1R

A power tailgate is in two parts.

The servo operated gas strut tends to be thicker so you would need to make sure there is enough space to fit one let alone the right length closed and open.

However power operated tailgates do not provide enough drive to actually latch the tailgate closed. Instead the lock assembly itself is also powered, when the striker engages the lock cams over to pull the tailgate fully home onto the door seals. As the lock is going to be vehicle specific is it likely to be any for the Discovery?

A pull tape has to be mounted far enough forward from the back edge of the door such that when the door is closed it doesn't hang down the inside of the door and into the door seal. I am sure I have seen one as a factory fit, just can't remember where.

There is a guy from Australia on the Freel2.com who has modified his very late Freelander 2 with very discreet OEM style additions.
One of the mods he has done is fitting a power tailgate using parts from IIRC an Evoque. It wasnt as straightforward as he first thought what with CCF editing and finding the right parts as all the Evoque bits werent a match but it shows its possible on a single tailgate.

Would it be possible to get the parts off a FFRR and with a bit (ok probably a lot) off faffing about fit them to a D4 or even D3..... wouldnt be cheap thats for sure
