Raising D3 towbar
Thought LR learned with the plow on the D2 but the D3 towbar is not much beter ...... beter cause removable but as I found out in Dec .....too low for my off-road equipment.
Two issues .....
1 - The ball is too low (even in off-road mode) so the RIB and all the trailers are sloping downwards towards the D3 .....and no, it did not help with fuel consumption
2 - The bottom part of the hitch is too low ...catches on most every sand hump in the road.
Is there any replacemennt hitches that would slot right in?

Towbar
Hi Aubrey
I have a similar problem but only with my Echo Offroad trailer and not my RIB trailer which is a Talon for a Gemini 5.5m RIB. I have ordered the adjustable height towbar from LR with my new HSE. This is slightly higher than the standard one but may still plough. Will check it out next week when get my new car.
BTW, where do you go with your boat? I launch at Rocky Bay.

Kosi Bay or Vaal river ....I would not bother with the adjustable unit ....it is a permanent mount and butt ugly.
Aubrey, I saw a Gauteng D3 at Mile 108 in Namibia during December 06, he had a beautiful replacement (real off road) towbar, supplied by a Johannesburg based off-road dealer: BRS Off Road Accessories . I sent them an e-mail but so far no reply. <brs> Please let us know if you manage to trace them!

Just spoke to Kristen at BRS, she is going to email me some pics of the towbar. From her description it sounds exactly what we need. Apparently it connects to the existing towbar slot, and also to the recovery loop between the 2 electrical plugs, and doesn't affect clearance much at all.
Will post pics once I have them.
Price, too sounds good. Just over R2k. Sounds too good to be true?

Tow Bar
Hi Baben
BRS fitted mine two weeks ago. It looks good and works well. If you want to see it, I am in Woodmead and am free on Friday.
Cheers,Bruce.
