Idea

If you are going to make one than can I suggest you look on some marine chandlers. Especially the dinghy variety. They do a good range of non slip foam deck coverings. Pro Grip is a brand. I think they would be ideal for your job as they are thin, very hard wearing and come in a range of sizes.
