Rear V8 Calliper Carrier Bracket Problem? |
|
Spent most of the day working on the D3 today.
Had to replace the alternator, after it failed on the M3 yesterday (relatively simple job thanks to the excellent alternator kits available from Advanced Factors and the excellent guide by Andy on here). The new Denso unit is producing a very healthy 15.02v on idle now compared to the 13.20v it was when the battery light came on yesterday morning.
Also set about completing my V8 brake upgrade on the back end, after doing the fronts earlier in the year. Whilst I was in there, I decided to fit some new EPB shoes to try and get to the bottom of my screeching EPB when I remove the key and the EPB has already been applied (mines a manual). What a tedious job that is . The parts that make-up the EPB shoes look like they've come off a Mahindra. Hold down springs?
Unfortunately, the V8 calliper carrier brackets, that were in the box, were not the right ones The parts I ordered were SXP500014 and the label on the box said SXP500014 but there was no way these calliper carrier brackets were going to fit on my D3. The problem seemed to be that the distance between calliper carrier bolt holes did not match the distance between the carrier bracket bolt holes on the knuckle (which seems to be the same part number regardless of whether it's a TDV6 or a V8 ).
Presume these Rear V8 Calliper Carrier Brackets don't need any additional modifications to the back plates or any other bits (knuckle)?
So, back on with the old parts it was.
