After disconnecting please put a rubber mat or similar on top of the battery before shorting the leads. Accidentally shorting the battery with a spanner or not good for your health!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I've had to do a reset regularly - usually the driver's window stops working. I find its enough to take off the positive cable from the battery. That puts everything to sleep.
Not sure why you would have to remove both cables and short them?
