Reversing uphill.

Had a strange experience yesterday with my Disco 4 MY 15, when I tried to reverse uphill in a carpark, it was quite steep.
I had to put my foot down hard on the throttle(all the way), but the engine revs did not increase, the car moved a little bit, stopped, I went into forward, back to reverse and the same happened. We are away from my dealer on holiday, but wondered if anyone else has had this problem?

Park brake stuck on!
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Have you tried Low Range? My driveway is on a slope and I find it much easier to control reversing up it by dropping into low box - much less slip from the torque converter.

You hadn't by any chance still had your foot on the main brakes at the time, as this will confuse the system.

I had a D3 where the clutch failed four times. Each failure was shortly after reversing uphill where low range was required.

Not sure how that would happen - using low range would put significantly less strain on the clutch in any gear, unless the hill was so steep you got the clutch to slip/burn-out in high range first Question

low range would help...its a 2.7 ton car on a steep hill as you said....make sure your shoes arnt scuffing the brake as you use throttle..it will fuss the computer not knowing which way you want it to go...other than that sell it get a better one
