from the state of mine when I fitted replacements, the ally bits were the best bits and all that was holding the rest together. worth having a proper check of the rest of the steps I'd suggest. .

You can get replacement edging strips for the aftermarket Disco style running boards on Ebay but they cost almost as much as a new aftermarket set. Relocated to Mid France from N. Wales March 2021

I have just bought some aftermarket on eBay, the look just like the old ones with the ally strip, they were £108 for the pair, I will let you know how I get on fitting them. Haven’t looked to hard but by the looks of it you have to remove a plastic trim to get to the old brackets that hold the step on. I imagine when I look in there it will be corroded and a pain in the ass 8)

The PO of my Landmark had them replaced by LR just before he sold to me (I then removed the steps and sold them; very shiny they were, too). I don't know whether he ordered aftermarket parts, or whether the stealer got the strips from LR but they fitted it so I suspect the latter. PAGODA

By the time the strips are looking tired, chances are the steel underneath and the brackets will be shot, or at least your sills will be needing some attention.

I changed my side rails last weekend, there is a good video on YouTube that britpart have posted which helps identify all the clips and screws you need to remove to take off the plastic panel to gain access to the brackets. The brackets were quite rusty so I changed them... I will add that the bolts they supply to fit the brackets are 4.8 tensile so Chuck those in the bin straight away!!! I use 10.9 but 8.8 should suffice.. I had three broken bolts to drill out one two of which were very stubborn and I ended up tapping the holes out to m10 threads (yes there is enough meat to do this) so all in all not to bad as usual with the disco a job that should be straight forward always ends up being more challenging than normal 😂
