For Sale: D3 XS Auto 07 - priced to sell quickly
Thanks, Martin, for allowing me to list this here.
I'm getting a D4 after a spell away and have now sealed the deal, so I can now get the D3 up for sale. I have a trade in price, but due to a fairly unsatisfactory relationship with my dealer (who I'll never, ever use again) I'd rather try to sell it privately first, and would rather get a few more bob by so doing.
The car is a 07 plate XS in Tonga Green, auto, well spec'd with satnav, cruise, twin tow electrics, park sensors, 6 cd, climate, tints, heated seats, rubbing strips, roof rails, bluetooth phone set up with voice control, etc, and rear light guards. I had custom leather fitted 2 years ago, and replaced the front seat pads at the same time. (See photos). It has had all major suspension components replaced under warranty and had new EGR valves about 20 months ago, and a new boot actuation thingy fitted at the same time as many folk on the forum found them to be failing (paranoia). It had a new alternator 4 months ago. Other than that, it's been a great car. I'd planned on keeping it, but circumstances have changed and I'm able to upgrade. The tires have about 8 months of use (about 6000 miles covered, as I swap them out for winter tyres part of the year) and are Grabber UHP. They have masses of tread left (see photos). If it sells here for the asking price, it will come with a full sized spare (Pirelli Scorpion at about 4-5mm)) and RLD spare wheel protector, tow hitch, enough oil for another full change with filters, bulbs, etc. My dealer won't see any of that kit, so it'll be advertised on here at some point if I trade it in.
The car has 48K on the clock, and has a full dealer service history, except for one service conducted by TFC (the best treatment it ever had). The brake pads were new about 10K miles ago and have a ton of wear left. Brake fluid and coolant were changed 20 months ago, also and the AC runs very cold. I've never used the car off road or towed with it (it's had my bike rack on it a few times). The 3rd row seats have been used once, and the second row seats have always been covered by LR seat covers. It's due a service at the end of the month, but I've factored this into the price. I will put it through an MOT before the car is sold, so it will come with 12 months MOT. Whilst I've had the car it's been warranted by LR and then Warranty Direct. The interior is immaculate. The exterior is also superb, but there is a 2" scratch on the passenger side door that I've shown in the pics and a tiny ding (it won't photograph) on the rear passenger side door, probably from a muppet in a carpark). I haven't tried to polish out the scratch, but will do so soon. It looks worse than it is. Basically, the car has been extremely well looked after and over serviced (oil change every 6 months with fuel filter, etc). I'm in two minds about flogging it, as I love the interior and drive, but have a great deal on a D4, subject to my dealer getting his act together.
I need to shift the car quickly, so I've looked on Autotrader and spoken to a few mates in the trade and have priced the car accordingly. I've priced it to be the cheapest comparable car out there, so if anyone is interested, drop me a line. I'm off work next week so if anyone would like to see it I can be quite flexible.
For sale at £16950.
Cheers.

Damn, 2 weeks too late. This is a fantastic price for the mileage.

Thanks, guys. Work move forces the sale, etc, so I've priced it to sell. I think it's a very good price having done some research. But if it doesn't go, it stays and my D4 bubble bursts.
That aside, I love the interior. Seat Surgeons, and the guy who fitted it in Ipswich, did a brilliant job. I replaced the seat pads at the same time, and I have to say that it's more comfortable than the D4 XS seats but some margin. I can wholly recommend them. All in it cost about £1100.PAGODA

This is my first post on here!
Just wanted to say what a fabulous looking D3 that is. I think that my own Freelander 2 looked worse than that when it was only 2 weeks old !
Those seats really look the part and when you consider the cost of upgrading to leather when you first order a car, this is hugely better value for money. And I bet the leather's better too!
Good luck with the sale and I'm only sorry that it can't be me who buys it

Looks beautiful and basically exactly what I am looking for. Does this model have sun roofs?

No, the XS didn't come with a sun roof as standard, although they may have been available as an extra. This car doesn't have a sunroof, sorry.PAGODA

Better without a sunroof, they like to leak.
Ducking for cover.

Having had an HSE with 2 sun roofs, and before I knew about the problems that are well documented here, I would liken the sunroof experience to having poured a bottle of dirty water into the foot wells of the car and used said area to grow mushrooms. Never again! (a set of new front carpet later).PAGODA

And frequent usage of general purpose cleaner. I use Flash, which degreases the car nicely, I find, if used with a light brush. I don't think it's a good idea to use lots of water in the engine bay, although a saw a guy pressure washing his X5 engine at the car wash last week. Full on jetting up close and personal. Probably not clever.PAGODA

Sounds interesting so you use flash floor cleaner in a bucket of water and gently brush it over the engine bay components and rinse ff gently?
Will have to give that ago. Been promising the engine bay a clean for years.
Don't think full on pressure waher is a good idea though. Was instructed to do it that way years ago but leave th engine running but not on my baby

Now MOT'd and with no advisory notices.
Feel a bit cheated by the new design of the MOT paperwork, though. Bit cheap.PAGODA
