Side Tubes - Fitment Help Wanted
Hi
I have just purchased a pair of non-Land Rover side tubes for my D3 but they didnt come with any instructions - and as much as it seems fairly straightforward i wondered if anyone had any instructions and/or tips for;
1. Removal of Side Steps (genuine parts), and
2. Fitment of Side Tubes (non-genuine)
Many thanks.Dont Take It Personally, Just Take It Seriously!
If they are like the non-landrover side tubes I fitted, then they should bolt on to the existing holes in the chassis. I used the land rover fitting instructions for mine and everything went smoothly. Instructions on the link below.
If the link doesn't work, go here: http://www.landrovertechinfo.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp, select Discovery 3 in the first box, scroll down to accessory fitting instructions in the 2nd box, then search for VTD500010/20 as part numberI know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Has anyone tried fitting these (VTD500010, genuine) to a MY08.5 ?
Some of the holes on the mounting brackets seem to be in the wrong place...just having a quick coffee and will check again in a moment that I am not being a complete plonker...

Slippy I remember when fitting the sidesteps that you really had to look at the pictures of the brackets in the instructions. Several times I had fitted a bracket in the wrong position thus making the other following brackets appear to be incorrect or not lining up.
Have a good look at the pictures ( I know the LR instructions are crap at the best of times)
Enjoy

yes indeed what A plonker I am..
After a refreshing cup of coffee I took another look and all became clear.
So can a numpty like myself fit the sidesteps, dealer wants £600 all incl., but they are £300 from Nick, so I thought I'd rather pay myself the money. 'coz I'm worth it!

It really depends if you enjoy doing this kind of thing or not, and how much you value your own time. Its not hard in any practical sense if you are thorough and follow the instructions carefully, but it will take a while to really figure out which bit goes where. It's a good afternoon's work.
Thanks chaps. While I do love doing stuff like this, I am also a bit of a perfectionist and if it isn't just right or I scratch/ding the car or they come loose, I'll be real ed off. Think I'll let the dealer pay his mortgage this month!
