Is there a thing that can be done pressing buttons while turning the ignition on and patting your head while rubbing your belly that might make my EPB come back to life? Mine is totally dead at the moment. Flick the switch up and nothing at all happens. Hold the switch up for a second and partial Christmas tree mode is engaged, with the red and yellow park brake lights flashing.
Probably at the dealers this week anyway for a new steering wheel and a squeaky drivers seat, but I wanted to try the knowledge here first on this one.

Everytime I read an EPB thread I touch the underside of the computer table, i.e. non varnished wood! Mine is probably waiting on some far away spot on the Tunisia trip to completely pack up. Anyone know anything definate about this EPB "fix" ???

Does that switch feel a little lighter to operate than it used to? Mine did this and it turned out to be the switch that was broken. My new one felt a lot stiffer (ooooh errr!)Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
I take it you haven't found any way of doing this?
Ours has just gone from screamer to dead in one swift move! Well, it's either dead, i.e. EPB doesn't apply, or it sometimes applies itself at some time much later, when it feels like it, then refuses to release and has to be manually released.
Just called two local dealers, who can't do anything until September because everything in this, er, country closes for August
One of them couldn't even do anything anyway since some toerags broke in and stole all their diagnostic gear a couple of weeks ago!

As a matter of interest we were in a dealers the other week and asked about the EPB on new (08.5) cars and were told that all the old problems had been fixed. Anyone else heard this?

It was booked in to be checked tomorrow, but three days left at the airport and it's fixed itself
The only things that's been done while it was at the airport was a seriously deep clean/valet. I didn't think it was going to go to the level of cleaning the wiring loom though

a) Don´t worry, the new version will most likely have a new set of, well, new problems
b) You were told this by a dealer so no vested interest there then.... Cheers

New EPB design is scheduled for 10 MY - apparently....
In the interests of continuous development and improvement of course, not as a tacit acceptance that they f d up with the original execution. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
