Sills. I don’t think a wire brush is going to cut it.

from what i could see of mine the weekend im pretty sure they will be shot. Will happily buy some pre made ones at that price to save time when doing mine.
Also my rear metal brake pipes and i what i think are some air pipes will also need to be replaced at the same time.Probably a new air take while im at it too...

Air pipes? What are they damaged, because I’m pretty sure their plastic. As for the sills, when he cut the outers off, he found that the inner sills have also had it. Price has now gone from £900 to £1500, but well worth it in my book. It’s a proper job at the end of the day. So don’t be surprised if your inners have gone. On the plus side he can make these. At a fraction of the cost from Land Rover or Rimmer Bros. The work should be complete by the weekend, photos of work in progress will be added to my post.

Did mine over the weekend , they were rusty both sides where the steps had been fitted.

Cleaned right back, rust treated and repainted. Need to check them again next summer as the metal was very thin in a couple of places.

Oh no that's what my side steps look like underneath 🙈 fingers are crossed that sill are OK and the steps have taken most of the rot. 🙏
Good news is I have a set of shire fabrication rock sliders waiting to be fitted 😜

Have you treated the shires with anything? There was a thread where someone said that they had at least surface rust.

Wasn't aware there was an issue with the shires ones 🙈
I planned to use a tough primer I have come across on the sills and raptor coat the sliders.. Also spray the life out of every crevice I can reach with a spray wax protectant... Fingers crossed that will do it!

The sills I started this post with are now unrecognisable. 1 completely rebuilt and 1 in progress. My indi says not to post his name as he does not want to do another one 😄

Luckily I have a lovely new set of shire fabrication sliders to fit once I have tackled the welding and inserting some new riv nuts!
Will keep you posted

So it's pictures you want... OK... But I warn you it's not pretty and you may not sleep at night if you have steps fitted...
