Hi,
does anyone have experience in "welding" the crack on the cover ?
I did this with a thick solder iron : melting the crack area and close the crack, finally adding some material from a small ABS strip.
My LR specialist is fully booked until mid od January, so I tried
this method as provisional repair.
The idea came from a plastic specialist, who explained to me how to do this. He is convinced, this repair will last at least as long as a new cover without increased material thickness in the typical crack area.
After 500 km with high payload, it still looks fine.
Any other experiences ?
