A stitch in time?

Situation : dark evening last week, temperature around zero. I raised the tailgate and put the first of my work tools away and went to fetch the rest

I returned to the car with my hands full and in the dark headbutted the corner of the upper tailgate which had sunk a few inches. Don't head cuts bleed!

One or both struts had failed in the cold. Advanced Factors provided replacements a day later and the upper tailgate is now very springy...I should have noticed the deterioration in the first place but its surprising what you get used to.

Anyway, I thought I'd share.

Cheers
Chris

+1 what darrind says! I fitted 'heavy duty ones as I was having to pull it all the way to the top, and have aspirations about a ladder. And i very nearly caught me out the first time I opened it. Laughing
