Thank you
Anyone replaced a piston while the engine is in the car ?
Anything I should know.
I guess I have to remove the bigger/upper sump to get to the middle left ?

To get to the crank it looks like I've got to :
Remove the drive shaft
Take starter motor off
Take the upper sump off
I'm just concerned whether I need to go near the crank sensor !
EDIT : To get upper sump off.
Remove starter.
Remove fuel heat exchanger makes it easier.
Remove alternator bracket
Remove fan cowling
I had the diff loose and pushed back
Disconnected small PAS rack pipes.
upper Sump will come out the front of the engine by radiator.

I think I have read something about pistons being fitted from the bottom of the engine. In that case would have to remove the crank completely.Vehicles

99% sure they come out the top. Piston cooling jets are at the bottom of the cylinder, and rather difficult to remove and fit with the crank/rods in situMy D3 Build Thread
