OMG Shocked Shocked Shocked

I NEARLY DIED JUST NOW!!!!!!

I just had a major disaster!

My friend popped down and we fitted new LED lights to his Freelander, then we rolled out the trailer and put the Roof Tent (The one that’s for sale) on top of it….all went well so far and here’s what it looked like just resting on top of the frame:

Then I added the ladder and folded it out (Sorry didn't take a pic as wanted to climb inside)……so stepped onto the ladder, climbed inside the tent, while he was outside…..

“You've not put the trailer legs down” I heard him shout………..by this time it was too late as I felt the trailer start to tip over, followed quickly by the middle of the roof tent beginning to fold as I started to hear the frame collapse……”HELP!” I shouted, but all was in vain as the whole frame collapsed with me inside the roof tent, I braced myself and eventually hit the ground and came to a stop! Censored Censored Censored Shocked

I was OK, yes a little shaken up, but no damage to myself….the frame was in a terrible condition! I crawled out of the tent and surveyed the damage, the frame was in pieces and tent laying on top of it Shocked .....sorry no pics as I was in shock by now and also couldn't find my phone

Clearly the lack of feet on the trailer started this catastrophe, but it soon dawned on me that “I CAN’T WELD” – as the frame just collapsed – I did check the weight bearing of the frame by hanging and jumping on it before, but obviously the movement of the trailer started a chain reaction that made the whole thing break apart

I’m ok though, very shaken still, but no harm done to me……I suppose better for this to happen now on the drive, than on the M5 or in the middle of the night on a campsite and with my boys inside it!!!!

So back to the drawing board for me, may even get somebody in to weld – clearly I didn't have enough power on the weld as it was just spot welding on to the metal and not melting the metal – I no longer trust myself with this frame, so best to get somebody in Thumbs Up

Please don’t laugh at me too much, but I can take it on the chin should you feel the need Rolling with laughter

We did put the tent up, this time, sat on top of the trailer and funnily enough with the legs down – looks quite good actually (Can you spot the frame now lying inside the tent?)

Iggy looking at your frame, you had no where near enough bracing or support between the rails etc

I'm not saying mine is perfect, but it took over 25 stone and stayed in place, and I plan to add a little more strength yet Thumbs Up
