IN HOLLAND ON HOLIDAY WITH A FAULT
Guys can anyone make an educated guess as to my problem please? Been in Holland since Friday on holiday and car had a full service and brakes etc done before trip.
Today display came up with restricted performance warning and when plugged in it gave fault in photo. 5 miles after the fault came up it went off again
Has been blowing a bit of smoke on hard acceleration but no split in hose and both turbos have been replaced last September.
Any help appareciated

Kenny looks like you might have egr problems, probably sticking, if its gone off.. stick some 2 strokeoil in the tank see if that helps, put 200mils in a full tank..

P242D - High voltage in the exhaust gas temperature sensor circuit, bank 1 sensor 3 - no information on the subtypes
Description
High voltage in the exhaust gas temperature sensor circuit, bank 1 sensor 3
Possible cause
- Wiring failure
- Particulate filter, output temperature sensor
- Failure of the particle filter "output temperature sensor"
Actions
- Using the diagnostic system approved by the manufacturer, check the datalogger signals for the exhaust gas temperature 1 voltage, sensor 3 (0x03F6), exhaust gas temperature 1, sensor 3 (0x03F8). This DTC is stored if the particle filter output temperature sensor signal voltage is higher than the value provided by the engine control module. Refer to the workshop manual and check if the diesel particulate filter and the sensor have no obvious signs of damage. Check that the wiring of the sensor does not cause any damage to heat or rubbing. Refer to the electrical diagrams and check the presence of an open circuit or a ground short circuit or other circuits in the particle filter output temperature sensor signal circuit. Check the ground circuit of the sensor, checking the presence of open circuit, short circuit to power, high resistance. Repair the wiring as needed.
- If wiring failures are not encountered, the problem may lie in the particle filter output temperature sensorDiscovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition
Thought it was non-synthetic needed? Name of this suggests it synthetic. I know the ASDA one is good so search that and match the spec?.

For a cleaning action I suggest you to add 700-800 cc of 2 stroke oil into a full of diesel (better for 2 cycle = 2 consecutive full)....
200cc is not enough for a "shock cleaning action", normally I use 200cc every full for "maintenance action", but when I bought the car (it was 80000km) I put 800cc 2 consecutive full of diesel without any problem, smoke or anything else.Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition
The reason I said 200 mils is because of the dpf, you have to be careful with them silly items fitted, but your right it should be ok as normally I use 500mls for a tank..but I am on a D3.
Kenny that should fine..

I'd suggest a dealer visit seeing as there is a PCM software update available for P242D-00."OIL" - 1990 200tdi Defender 90

Hi AM,
hope you are getting things sorted ok
as Flack has mentioned the 2sO I have just been recapping the specs suggested to use and
FB is for None DPF (mineral)
FC for with a DPF (mineral)
FD may not be suitable as fully synthetic and DPF does not like it.
hopefully the grade should be on the label no matter the language
250ml for every 50litres of fuel added and I have been adding it for last 2+ years
Bammmy,
you may be best to search 2sO when you have a few days to spare
