Brake pad wear
Just got my 62 plate D4 back from the garage after its 5 year service. The car was bought from the same dealer 18 months ago and this was the second service they have done for me
The car was bought with 34k miles on and at its previous service had new brake pads on the front and rear at 40.5K miles
To say I was surprised when I saw an amber flag on rear pads stating they were 57% worn is an understatement. This service was done at 46.5k miles so the pads have only done 6k miles !
I queried this with the garage who said such wear was normal.
Having previously had a manual D3 where the pads managed around 20k miles I find it hard to believe a D4 auto wears pads at such a greater rate ( the front pads were quoted as 30%worn)
I have not noticed the brakes binding ( as I had once on the D3 ) so am at a loss for the reason for such wear
It could of course be the case that the mechanic measured wrongly although I did ask for a recheck
Can anyone advise on what they would expect as normal wear on a set of pads on a D4 which does mainly town driving and does not tow
Thanks

My wife's 2012 disco 4 now 90k miles. Mixture of rural roads, hills and town driving at sensible speeds. Front pads seem to last 30-35k whilst rears need changing every 25k or so
Your wear rate does seem rather extreme!
