Intercooler Hose, Intercooler or oil leak
Hi guys, any thoughts on the pics below?
So coming back from a long drive I noticed black smoke starting to come out of the exhaust quite a bit when pushing the pedal down. Doesn't seem to be any lose in power though. I've checked the hose on top and looks fine, checked the bottom and no holes but did find it looking like this. Maybe the clamp has come lose? I didn't tighten it after taking it off to check and clean it but wondering if it could be something else. Hole in the intercooler? No drips or huge leaks but it does seem like a excessive amount of oil. Any advice?
Thanks guys

It's what mine looked like, I never did find a hole but I upgradednthe I/C to an RS500 version and there is no oil leak anymore. I always suspected there was a split in the IC itself but I never found it. Sorry, that's probably not much help... but the oil is coming from inside the charge system and is getting out somehow!-------------------------------------------------------------------

Any engine that allows it crankcase vapour in the inlet manifold will collect oil.
Basically its normal and nowt to worry about.

Thanks for the info guys. Then what about the black smoke pouring out my exhaust when I floor it? Has to be a hole somewhere?

Split in Intercooler pipe or split in intercooler
You could have got Advanced factors to ship them out at a fraction of the local price by now Bodsys Brake Bible

As Bodsy says it sounds like a split intercooler hose to me.
Mine has 'gone' twice in 70 odd thousand miles.
Both times it was at the top of the hose from the intercooler to the inlet manifold.
Open the bonnet and get somebody to rev the engine, if it's split you'll hear/see the split open up.
Luckily it's a 10min job to change and a LR hose is only @£50.

Bodsy, your probably right! Haha. I'm still waiting over here and when I'm waiting for something to get done I start thinking. They want €250 for the intercooler. Would it be any cheaper having one sent from the UK though?
No hole in the hose. Checked it all over. Just seems to a hole in the intercooler from what I'm told at the local garage. But how can one be sure haha.

If you look at the front of the intercooler you can often see the oil stain from the split/ holeMark
