The problem is not with the brake light circuit its when the filiment breaks and drops onto the tailight filiment, when the tailights are on it feeds power back to the ecu telling it the brake lights are on but the ecu is getting no feedback from the switch or relay so it gets confusedAndrew

Many thks and don’t mind admitting I always assumed it was down to quality of the bulbs , ie if the cheaper bulbs used a thinner filament and possibly causing a different ohms signal back to the ecu and therefore causing an issue in comparison to a quality made bulb

Hi Andrew
Interesting u mention Led’s as was looking at some of the reversing led’s mainly for better visibility when reversing onto my driveway
However some of my concerns were, if they would be ok for the mot, throw any errors and if they would vastly improve the amount of light displayed
Is it just the brake bulbs that you’ve replaced plse
Many thks

For the sidelight leds I used Osram ones as produce a white light similar to the hids but when off they look like normal filament bulbs. Both my D3 and my Focus have them and both went through mots with no issue. As for the reversing bulbs my D3 had early D4 lights and never had an issue with standard bulbs.

It’s a bit grainy but gives you a idea of what they look like.

Awesome and many thanks , just ordered some as I’ve kept meaning to replace mine and they do indeed look a lot better
As a side note sorted out the condensation issues on my front headlights, cured it by drilling the top hole , then fitting a tube on the back along with some heatshrink on the end so hopefully bugs etc won’t get in , along with securing the tubes with clips
Do like the look of the D4 lights, one day I’ll get set
Thks again

reverseing leds shouldn't give any problems.
I think powerful fitted reversing leds in their videos and they were brighter.
They probably used osram

NOTE: These LED bulbs are opposite pin fitting. Please check BOTH sides of your lights before ordering. Some lights may be opposite pin one side, and rotated pin the other!
Assume that’s to do where some bulbs have offset pins , must admit never checked
Many thks
