Cheep substitute for wing mirror glass, is it worth it? |
|
Rather embarrassingly, I clipped wing mirrors with a van this morning just a few hundred yards from my home and leaving me without a passenger mirror. I stopped and went back to apologise and exchange details, but luckily there was no damage to the van, phew!
I need to order a replacement, I’ve checked online and I’m seeing prices range from £15 on eBay up to £90oem. Are the cheap ones worth trying or should I stick with a trusted aftermarket from somewhere like rimmerbros?
https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID018492 12 months of D3 ownership have passed and I’m still loving it!

I had one off e bay, it fitted but it was smaller all around and looked odd. It didnt match the other side. I would solash the cash and order a genuine one, the dealer will likely fit it for free as well Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

I fitted a really cheap eBay one 6 years ago and it's been faultless. I can't have paid more than £10

I bought a heated mirror glass from eBay and it has proved very satisfactory for over a decade.
LR glasses from a main dealer were £29 at the time and when I went to collect the ordered glass they, (Stratstones), had sold it to someone else.
I remember that the seller was offering apparently similar items at different prices. When I asked he admitted that they were identical. So paying more is not always necessary. A UK supplier might however be an advantage because it would be easier to return an unsatisfactory item.
