Winch with nudge bar
Hi,
I wondered if any has fitted a discreet winch with the full nudge bar on a D3. Would it be possible to feed the line through a cut out in the bar or would the bottom horizontal bar have to be cut out?
I would like a winch but the nudge bar has been on from new so I am loathe to damage it.
Any suggestions?

i have not fitted one but i have fitted the G4 winch mount and soft nudge bar ( the one cut out for the G4 winch). Looking at where a descreet winch would mount i beleive it would be possible but you would have to get the mesurments of the descreet winch bracket and placement as they do vary between the makes of them.
The soft nudge bar would also restrict access to the winch clutch , unless you can bend your arm in many different ways Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

Nothing useful to add except that I've been scratching my head looking to do the same thing - can you let us know how you get on.

I am not sure that this will help but this is my nudge bar and winch set-up on my African D3.
I bought it like that so I'm not sure if anything was cut out on the original nudge bar when it was installed?

I know there is a version of the nudge bar that's designed for a winch, which I think yours may have been.
I'm afraid I'm not brave enough to risk wrecking the nudge bar when they're so rare. If I could get a knackered one to have a go at, then maybe, but otherwise I'll have to live without the winch by the looks of it.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

You're quite correct.
This got me curious, so I got busy with Senor Google.
Nudge bar winch version got me this:

Yes the one with the bar removed at the bottom is a g4 spec nudge bar but it was available to normal disco 3s as well. These are less common then the standard version with the bottom bar but both are like hens teeth to find and expensive to boot. Believe the company the originally made them have closed and I don’t think they are available new anymore but I’m happy to be proved wrong onDiscovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

Using them I found that Bearmach has in stock, according to their website:
As I said, it looks like Bearmach has them in stock but for a price.
But as scubble stated, used units are also quite expensive!2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey (UK)

That's why I don't much fancy trying to cut mine as I don't really want to be paying that sort of price to replace it. Shame but the winch idea will have to be shelved.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey
