Following Robbie's Guide To The Low Pressure Fuel System |
|
Without going into all the gory details of my disco woes, today I set out to follow Robbie's guide.
The pump drew 3.3A on ignition and 4.4A with the engine running. So I'm thinking it's working but not all that hard.
Fuel pressure tested at just under 0.4 bar running and reliably dropped to under 0.3 bar under throttle with associated bongs and engine system fault messages. So I'm thinking the pump is definitely weak and not outputting enough to be regulated down to a steady 0.5 bar.
After testing, and just for a laugh, I ran the engine with fuse #1 removed so no power to the LPFP to see what would happen and the engine ran better: ran for 5 mins, up to 3500 revs with no bongs until rain stopped play. I still had the pressure gauge connected and it went to zero then into vacuum by 10psi running all the while.
What's going on here then? Without the LPFP fuse in I didn't think the car would run for more than a few seconds if at all. 2016 D4 SDV6 Landmark
