Front Runner auxiliary tank D3
Hi to all.
I bought a used Front Runner auxiliary tank on the D3 from a forum member. After mounting the tank, I must have it entered in the vehicle's technical certificate. To do this, I need a European type-approval certificate for the tank, a certificate of conformity with European regulations. Is there a person who owns this or some additional tank on the D3? Would anyone be willing to make me a copy of this European certificate? I'll pay for something.
Thank you Petr

Why not email Front Runner and explain your situation? These are quite a rare fitment? They could be able to supply a Certificate?

I wrote to headquarters in South Africa. They have nothing like that there. The European headquarters in Hanover, Germany, does not want to help me because I did not buy a tank from them.
Ask the forum member from whom you purchased it to get the certificate of conformity for you from the European headquarters in Hanover, if he was the original purchaser.
Good luck

If you asked these guys, if they supply a certificate with their tank… and if you can see it? In pdf? So you can “check” before buying if Swiss will allow it?

OK so I know a little about this - to get this officially into the EU a certificate of conformity is required. However it does not have to be produced to the end consumer - it must be produced by the importer to either the Market surveillance authority in that country or the distributor who is re selling it.
So I guess HQ could help out of goodwill, Front runner Distro in Europe have no particular obligation to help you but must respond to an official request from an authorised party. Its DOC (Declaration of conformity) may no longer be valid as there is no obligation to maintain it after the initial point of entry so if standards changed after front runner started importing them then it may no longer be conformant.
My knowledge doesn't relate specifically to Fuel tanks but rather "General product safety" governed products of which I may have imported a few in my time
Automotive parts do have their own set of rules which you can find in the "Blue guide" but for accessories they'll likely be under general product safety plus a bit
Just as an aside Front Runner HQ must have had this as they would have been the originating party for the shipment if shipped from them and the DOC would have been required to gain initial customs entry into the EU05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
12 RRS SDV6 HSE (Hers) - Gone and replaced with an I Pace - I can tell you now EV is not the future yet

Have you tried Discovery-Parts in Germany ?
They did (maybe still do ?) fit auxiliary fuel tanks on D3/4. The Frontrunner version. They would also handle the conformity and TuV certificate so might be able to supply a manufacturer certificate of conformity.
I know of only two D4's in Lux with an auxilliary fuel tank. One was mounted a few years ago and has a TuV certificate. And the other is still on German plates, owned by a German, was fitted by Discovery Parts and is registered at a German address so he goes to the German annual control.
Getting this approved in Luxembourg is a whole world of pain now they are off the market. I have given up trying....MY2008 D3 - It got me hooked...gone
MY2012 D4 - It kept me hooked...gone
MY2007 D3 - Mid-Life crisis toy continues driving me to bankruptcy...
MY2018 "D5" Si6 - But is it a "true" LR...discuss...but now gone
Back in a D4 with a lot of extras....
