Thanks, this is the guide I've been following. It's been really good, just feeding the belt on I've got stuck at.

I think I tried string around the belt to keep it taught
Then fitted tensioner and removed string
I gave this a bit of a go today, did you tie bottom of belt to top of belt or bottom of belt to something solid on car above belt?

I just looped it through the top part of the belt and tensioned the string with one hand.
I don’t think I was successful with that method,
But have heard in mentioned on here

Leave the tensioner as loose as possible and slide the belt on both pulleys at the same time, don’t put the belt on one pulley and then try and put it on the other pulley. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I did as above, fitted tensioner loosely then put the belt over both pulleys then it slid nicely over the tensioner, pull pin and tighten. Took me longer to put the belt cover back on.Steve

It took me longer to fit the fan back on, even stooped so low as to get SWMBO to help It can when others can't,

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll get back on it tomorrow with this advice.
I always fit the tensioner fully then place the belt over the camshaft pulley, make sure the belt is just above the tensioner bolt and work the other end of the belt on to the hpfp pulley, then flip the belt on to the tensioner, never failed me yet.

Finally fitted it, I still couldn't get it over tensioner so ended up taking tensioner off and used string to hold belt up and tight on other 2 cogs then fit tensioner. Thanks everyone for your comments, hopefully be useful to anyone else struggling in future too.
