CLEANS: WD-40 gets under dirt, marks and grease making it easy to wipe away. It also dissolves adhesives, allowing easy removal of labels, tape, and stickers

PROTECTS: WD-40 protects metal surfaces with corrosion-resistant ingredients to shield against moisture and other corrosive elements

LUBRICATES: WD-40's lubricating ingredients are widely dispersed and hold firmly to all moving parts

PENETRATES: WD-40 loosens rust-to-metal bonds and frees stuck, frozen or rusted metal parts

DISPLACES MOISTURE: Because WD-40 displaces moisture, it quickly dries out electrical systems to eliminate moisture-induced short circuits. Turn the power off before you spray

The pin in mine tries to move when the car is locked, but doesn't actually lock.

Very annoying as it was mentioned to the dealer when it was in for something else. They assured me they had fixed it, but when I washed the car the next weekend, the fuel filler popped open when the car was locked.

On the WD 40 front....

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Can anyone post a link to the sticky filler lock tsb? How big a job is it to change the locking mechanism, as mine doesn't seem to want to budge. I think the end of the pin might have snapped off anyway, in a moment of frustration at a Windsor filling station where the hose wouldn't reach the filler cap Laughing

I checked the filler flap locking mechanism which can be seen by removing the jack from it's housing on the right side of the loadspace, and found the black outer cable had become detached, allowing the inner and outer cables to move at the same time. The means the locking pin didn't move, hence the flap not locking shut.
On this picture you can see the black outer cable pushed into the white sleeve as it should be:

I fixed it using a couple of tie wraps to hold the cable mechanism in place. There's a threaded hole there that I fed the tie wraps through - maybe that's where a clip for the cable should be?

Hey presto - a fuel flap locking pin! Very Happy

If your fuel flap doesn't lock, maybe worth checking this first.

Heine, did you ever find out where the soleniod for the flap lock is.
I had a rattle in the back where the jack is, when I opened up the access cover I found the rattle, the cable from the lock isn't attached to anything just flopping around in the cavity.

Excellent - just what mine required a 5p cable tie! Thumbs Up
