High speed vibration
I've just had a factory exchange auto box fitted to my high mileage D3 HSE (216,000 miles) to cure low speed judder. Now nice and smooth and the judder at 30 mph now gone.
However, I have a vibration which can be felt through the whole car from about 70 mph which gets worse at progressively higher speeds.
I had this before but I assumed it was the transmission, seems it's something else.
Recent new tyres all round and balanced twice to eliminate that as the problem.
Recent new discs all round and front steering/suspension bushes all recently replaced.
Prop sounds likely. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Prop centre bearing. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I've read other posts and it seems I need to replace the whole propshaft. Is this a big job? What is involved?

I had this the prop bearing reduced the shudder, but it ended up going back and having a front driveshaft replaced which has done the trick DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Is there a way to diagnose the cause of vibration without having to just replace components until the problem disappears? I am fully prepared to replace driveline components at such a high mileage (the auto box replacement cost £4750 -ouch!) but I don't want to spend more money than necessary changing components which are OK or which still have life in them.
Are driveshafts expensive?

If the prop bearings or UJ's have failed they can usually be checked very easily, I am surprised if whoever changed the GB did not notice a worn prop. get underneath and look at the prop., check it for any side ways and up/down movement at both ends, check the centre bearing for signs of wear particularly the rubber that holds the centre bearing. Any sign of movement replace the shaft.
The shafts have balance weights fixed on the shaft, check for signs of them being knocked off during the GB change.
Simpleish job to replace the shaft(s).It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
