Slow to respond when accelerating yesterday?? |
|
I was driving back from a shopping trip from Ikea with the wife yesterday when I noticed my disco was very slow to respond when pulling away and has a delay before kicking into life??, no faults are coming up on the dash and after doing a quick search on here it seems to be pointing me towards the EGR valves?
Having not much mechanical experience and knowledge does this diagnosis sound like I should be getting a blanking kit from BAS if Pete still does these and geting it fitted? could this cure the problem I have described?
Any advice on what the next best step would be and whether this sounds like the EGR or could be something else would be appreciated ?
I know this topic has been discussed many times on here but I just wanted to get you expert advice/ opinions on getting my Disco back to full health again
Many thanks,
Damian

Could be EGR's ..could also possibly be your turbo ...when mine went it was sluggish and flat for a few days before the engine management light came on 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

have yer had it long - reason being the dynamic gearbox has learnt your driving habits for what might be a different style of driving or that of the previous or regular driver, hence the lack of pick-up, IMO i would accept its there until or just get yer LR to reset the gearbox ECU.
Mine did it on the old gearbox and the brand new gearbox - just a LR D3 thing

Doesn't really cure the flat spot, but a decent remap again won't cure it completely but certainly will improve it.

I have had the car approximately 6 months, I could definately notice a difference last night for it to pick-up when pulling away or accelerating, what would you suggest the next best step would be? It could be quite dangerous if I had to pull away quickly for example ,

Unnecessary quote removed
as I suspected, your driving style is different to the previous owner - recon its off to yer friendly LR dealer to get um to plug it in to a) see any fault codes b) reset the gearbox ecu to factory settings

ISTR the adaptive feature of the auto is progressive so it will continually learn patterns over 150 mile cycles until it is reset.....therefore your last 150 miles could be different to your next if there has been a substantial change in the way you drive. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I see what you are saying and you could be right, but after reading through another thread the symptons seem exactly the same, I put my foot on the pedal and then after a 2/3 second delay it goes like a scalded cat as he put it!
He blanked the EGR valves as people suggested and it fixed the problem for him? Is it worth doing this first anyway? rather than giving the stealers a christmas bonus
What do you think worth a shot?
Thanks

Damian.
Try what character says, get it plugged in mate. Then if it is the EGR's its not a major job to do, took me about hour n half to do them both
Do you get power after about 2-2500 rpm? If so it sounds like EGR's but better to get it plugged.
