DTC P132B........Clearing
Hi All,
I've a 2008 LR Disco 3 XS 2.7 D V6 running a Bell autos re-map.. No probs for the last two/three years.
Parked it up for two weeks (on Hols). On starting after the two weeks 'Engine system failure' came up almost immediately. So used the BAS tuner to read the DTC...P132B. Turbo/Turbo actuator fault.
The problem is I can't seem to clear the DTC with BAS tuner, even momentarily.
Can't raise Bell at the mo on the phone, so is there a special routine to use with the BAS tuner unit to clear DTCs?
Also if it try to clear the DTC then re read DTCs I get an ECU reading error. I have to physically disconnect the BAS tuner and reconnect, 'key off-key on' is not enough, is this normal ?
It wont clear a fault code if the fault is still present, so that suggests something in the ecu is still reading an error on the actuator. if you have the latest LR software patch your car should go through an actuator sweep running through the full range of movement a handful of times when turning the car off. may be worth starting the car and idling for a short time then switching if, repeating once or twice to see if it frees up and allows the fault code to be cleared.
As for the comms error, mine does that too so presume it's normal

I've do some further investigating... Code P132B is 'self clearing'.
My actuator was seized solid.. Fine for four years then two weeks without use ...solid!
What I've found out/did.... BTW a big thank you to Steve Norman...
The Actuator is tested on ignition on and start up by the PCM/ECU... but only if engine is at idle..
But if you start the engine and immediately keep the revs up, the 'test' won't fail until the engine is allowed to idle again. I assume there is some 'home' position check at idle/low revs and ignition on only.
After emailing Steve and 'soaking' the actuator arm pivot points with WD40, I gently tapped the top ball end with a long 1/4 extension bar. Then when it moved as far in as I dared, I pulled it back with a hook made from a wire coat hanger. Repeating the process until the arm was free.
Note all this can be done with the suspension in 'off-road' and through the Passenger side (RHD) wheel arch. You do have to remove the small heat shield (three 10mm nuts, bottom one only accessible with suspension in 'off-road' position).
The actuator must move freely... keep GENTLY 'exercising' the actuator as above, until this is achieved (mine took several goes).
My 2008 must have had the firmware update, as with the ignition is turned off, the actuator is pulsed three time at about 5 second intervals.
Initially, the error would reoccur at intervals when driving, typically when the engine was at idle. More lubrication/exercise and the interval is getting longer between these
errors (including allowing the engine to idle), now 20 miles+ (stop/start driving) on the last run.
Hopefully the fault will disappear for good... I'm also now running with two stroke oil added to the fuel about 300:1 ish....
This is bad design on LR/Ford's part...A small amount of rust and carbon build up necessitates a body off £2000 (ish) repair!

if your arm is free and the fault still won't reset try a hard reset if not im in chichester weds coud always plug the MSV2 in see it that will do it , give me a shout if you need it

take the battery leads of and touch them together for about 30 seconds (leads only) tho
