how many problems ... in how many miles |
|
read a lot on this site about various issue with D3's..from bangs, pops, knocks, electrical gremlins etc, etc.
But was wondering..how many of us do not / or have not, suffered from any major issue????
I started this thread, so I'll begin...
Got a Jan 2005 SE TDV6. Now done 62k miles so far and only problem I've had was when transfer box started whinning after 12k [replaced under warranty] ..apart from that..nothing to write home about...when it goes in for a service.. that's all they need to do.
AND, mine was seemingly one of the early 'problematic' vehicles??
best vehicle owned .....ever!!!! I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Nothing major in 54K miles.
Only thing that stopped me going over 30MPH was an incorrectly seated suspension ECU.
All other issues have been minor or part not fitted at manufacture.

I think my most serious failure was the sheared off tailgate strut. Early electronic gremlins also, and a new seat. Nothing major for 10,000's of miles. 64500 now, and engine sounds fine!

November 04, one of the very early problematic ones, now done 24,000 miles. Full list of faults below.....
Park brake fault indicator light (no actual fault) caused by dealer at 1st service.
No other indicated faults,
no calls to LRA ( who are they?)
not even a call to the dealer.
These things don't go wrong, do they? D3 TDV6SE

10,000 mls from new, 9 mths old:
apart from wiper-judder (easily fixed, thanks to advice on this site), not ONE SINGLE FAULT. No gremlins, no squeaks, everything bolted together properly, nothing seems to have been left off at the factory etc etc...
are these cars REALLY built in Solihull? Can we be certain that they're not coming off Japanese Ro-ro ferries???? If this represents some of the best Britain can offer in car manufacturing, then we should be laughing. Sorry - bit of a patriotic rant, there, but I have had 1st hand experience of the early rubbish that came off US production lines with an M-B badge on it.
I'm not saying the D3 is perfect - there are loads of things we would all like to see improved - but IMO, there ain't no substitute... or maybe I've just been lucky so far?!?!? (Time to touch wood, so to speak.) DGRR

First one a few minor issues and one repetitive fault with a wheel speed sensor causing suspension to show a fault - nothing went wrong that made it undriveable in the 21700 mile I owned it for
Current one, 2200 miles in six weeks (yer, I need to get out more ) nothing at all, in fact I had to cause a fault to make sure the 'bong' worked
